This training aimed to equip participants with the technical knowledge and practical skills necessary for small-scale salt production as a sustainable source of livelihood. The session was led by Mr. Don Zeus Salvador, an experienced salt-making practitioner, and focused on on-site, real-time instruction covering the salt crystallization process, proper equipment usage and maintenance, and environmentally sustainable production methods.
Participants engaged directly in every step of the salt-making process under the guidance of Mr. Salvador and PEDIPO facilitators. This learning-by-doing approach ensured that members gained not only theoretical knowledge but also the confidence to apply the techniques independently.
The activity was carried out in close coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Vicente and the Barangay LGU of Sangputan, reflecting PEDIPO’s commitment to community-based collaboration and inclusive economic empowerment.
The Salt Farming Project in Barangay Sangputan is one of several livelihood initiatives under PEDIPO’s BLES Program. Through such efforts, PEDIPO continues to strengthen local associations by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to develop viable and sustainable livelihoods—contributing to the broader development of Northern Samar.
