Under the threat of heavy rains, thousands of devotees in Northern Samar walked from the Catarman Cathedral to the Diocesan Shrine of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno in Brgy. Cawayan in the early morning of January 9, 2026 for the Traslacion or the Feast of the Black Nazarene. From the Spanish word meaning “transfer,” Traslacion is a procession where devotees seek healing, blessings, and the fulfillment of vows.
This devotion symbolizes our people’s faith to Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, the Supreme Being who understands pain, and who walks with us through hardship. This annual tradition continues in the province, reflecting faith, patience, and endurance during times of hardship.
The Black Nazarene reminds us that Jesus understands suffering and walks with us amidst fear and heavy burdens.
Today, as shear line continues to pour heavy rains across Northern Samar, we pray, Poong Nazareno, have mercy on us. Please hear our prayers.
