Fostering community development by capacitating local coops


The Provincial Government of Northern Samar, through the Provincial Cooperative and Community Affairs Office (PCCAO), facilitated the conduct of the Training on the Fundamentals of Cooperatives at the Provincial Capitol, to help empower newly organized and micro cooperatives in the province which play a crucial role in boosting the local economy. 

The training, mandated by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) for the registration of coops, covered concepts, significance, principles and values of cooperatives, with Ms. Annie Cristie O. Pondemira, MCDO of LGU San Jose as one of the resource persons, sharing insights on the Principles and Values of Cooperatives and its corresponding practices.  Engr. Romeo Cardenas discussed Cooperatives Laws/Salient Provisions of Cooperatives Laws, emphasizing the Republic Act No. 9520; Registration and Regulation; and the Right and Responsibilities of the cooperatives and its members. 

The activity, held on December 17, 2024, was participated by 13 cooperatives from Northern Samar.
