In the aim to mitigate the impact of natural calamities, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar built another evacuation center in one of its vulnerable communities - Brgy. Bangon in Gamay, Northern Samar.
Brgy. Bangon which is 119.5 kilometers from Catarman and 12.1 kilometers away from Gamay Poblacion, is prone to flooding. Recently, the area experienced flooding caused by the shearline and trough of Typhoon Romina.
The 2-storey evacuation center is equipped with proper lightings, 3-cubicle comfort rooms, generator set, water tank and other basic fixtures, all important in providing evacuees a safe shelter during emergencies. The facility was also built with a ramp to provide access to persons with disabilities.
The Provincial Government Inspectorate Team conducted a final inspection on December 13, 2024 to ensure the project's compliance to set infrastructure standards.
The Provincial Government of Northern Samar remains steadfast in its effort of strengthening its risk reduction initiatives to help protect the lives of Nortehanons.
