Eight (8) municipalities in Northern Samar already with Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS)

Eight (8) municipalities in Northern Samar have already been declared with Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS), the 803rd Infantry Brigade through Deputy Brigade Commander Col. Ericson Rossana reported to the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) in a joint meeting with the Provincial Development Council last week.

The Stable Internal Peace and Security or SIPS is a distinction conferred to local government units (LGUs) which are certified by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as unaffected by terrorist groups, and areas which are considered relatively peaceful and no activities from the New People's Army were recorded for at least a year.

The municipalities of Bobon and Mondragon have achieved the Stable Internal Peace and Security status on November 25 and 29 this year, respectively. These municipalities are in addition to the six (6) municipalities earlier granted this year the SIPS status namely Allen, Biri, Capul, Rosario, San Jose, and San Vicente. This exemplifies the strong commitment of LGUs, the Philippine Army, DILG and development partners to establish peace in their communities and in the entire province of Northern Samar.

The Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) headed by Governor Edwin Ongchuan, with the Provincial Government of Northern Samar, continues to support efforts to achieve peace in communities, facilitating delivery of government services and promoting economic growth.
