The Northern Samar Provincial Hospital (NSPH) was recently awarded by the Department of Health (DOH) for fostering environment-friendly and climate-resilient healthcare practices under its Green Viability Assessment (GVA) System.
Garnering a 4-star rating in the 2024 DOH Green Health Facilities Recognition Program, NSPH demonstrated commitment to sustainabiity and excellence. Facilities scoring 86-95% are awarded the Four-Star Rating, signifying good practice in Green and Safe Health Facilities.
Under DOH Department Memorandum No.2024-0026, health facilities, both public and private, are evaluated on 8 parameters: Governance; Energy efficiency; Water Efficiency, sanitation and hygiene; healthcare waste management; material sustainability; environmental resilience; site sustainability; and indoor environmental quality.
Green Health Facilities demonstrate commitment to environmental sustainability, incorporating energy-efficient technologies, waste reduction practices and resource optimization. These efforts reduce environmental impact, as well foster a healthier and more resilient environment for patients and hospital staff.
NSPH Chief of Hospital, Dr. Joseph Estanislao received the award on December 2, 2024 in Pampanga.
This recognition highlights the Provincial Government's efforts to enhance healthcare services while integrating environmental stewardship and sustainability.
