Reviving Tradition: Governor Ongchuan's Mission to Restore Earthenware Craft in Northern Samar

In an effort to revitalize earthenware making in Northern Samar, Governor Edwin Ongchuan, accompanied by his son Ethan, embarked on a visit to the Municipality of Lezo in the Province of Aklan. Their destination was the pottery capital of Aklan, chosen for a study tour aimed at Cultural Heritage Preservation and Sustainable Tourism Development.

Governor Edwin Ongchuan is enthusiastic about restoring this traditional livelihood, even though it may have lost prominence in modern times. His vision is to revive and safeguard the art of earthenware making to ensure that the cultural identity of the Ibabaonon community is passed down to future generations.

A strong advocate for culture and the arts, Governor Ongchuan has taken the lead in promoting cultural events such as the Ibabao Festival and other artistic activities during the annual celebration of the Province of Northern Samar's foundation day. Through these initiatives, he not only honors the province's heritage but also fosters a deeper appreciation for its rich cultural legacy.
