Barangay Ligaya, Rosario has a new evacuation center

To provide Nortehanons a safe shelter in times of calamity, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar constructed a 2-storey evacuation center in Barangay Ligaya, Rosario, Northern Samar.
An island barangay with about 800 residents, Barangay Ligaya is situated near the coastline, making the community prone to being displaced during typhoons and other disasters. Through the project, the Provincial Government aims to mitigate the impact of calamities, prevent loss of life and protect the community.

The project, amounting to P7 million pesos funded under the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRMF), comes with generator set, emergency lights, water tank, electrical installations, and other basic features. The edifice is also built with comfort rooms, kitchen and ramp, essential in providing those with special needs comfort and access to the facility.

The Provincial Government Inspectorate Team conducted the final inspection yesterday, October 1, 2024 to ensure that the project is constructed as designed and is compliant with the set infrastructure standards.

The completion of the project testifies to Governor Edwin Ongchuan and the Provincial Government’s commitment to build resilience by bolstering infrastructures that will safeguard Nortehanons in times of calamity.
