To enhance productivity of rice farmers, 1,362 farmers from the first district of Northern Samar received financial aid today, October 8, 2024 under the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) Program funded through the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
The program is part of a broader effort to enhance the competitiveness and productivity of the Philippine rice sector. Under the initiative, eligible farmers registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) and cultivating rice lands of two hectares or less will receive PHP 5,000 in financial aid.
The release of the assistance, held at the Capitol Gym, was made in coordination with the Provincial Government through the Provincial Agriculture Office. Aligned with the national government’s priorities, the Provincial Government under the administration of Governor Edwin Ongchuan has agriculture as a key development agenda to propel Northern Samar’s economic development, alongside other vital sectors.
Yesterday, 930 rice farmers-beneficiaries from the Second District of the province received the cash assistance, with a total of 2,292 beneficiaries from Northern Samar having received the much-needed support.
