This marks the start of the Nortehanons’ long-time dream for the Talisay-Laoang Bridge (Laoang Bridge 2) and Calomotan-Pangpang Bridge (Laoang Bridge 3) under the Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project 2.
Through Governor Edwin Ongchuan’s leadership, the Provincial Government, strongly supported by the province’s representation in Congress, Congressman Harris Ongchuan, persistently lobbied for the project to the national government.
Among the 3 projects sealed was the USD 111.43 million (about PHP 6.34 billion) financing agreement for the Samar Pacific Coastal Road II Project, which is being supported by the Export-Import Bank of Korea-Economic Development Cooperation Fund (KEXIM-EDCF).
The project aims to provide a seamless connection for the people and goods between Laoang Island and Samar mainland, and contribute to the growth of the Province of Northern Samar.
Once completed in 2029, the project will reduce travel time from Laoang to Palapag (Northern Samar) to just 19 minutes from the original travel time of 65 minutes.
Thanks to the national administration for this support!
