PGNS Economic Team engages in Food Security Development Talks with TAO Corporation

Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Project to achieve food security and sustainable economic growth centered the discussion between the Provincial Government of Northern Samar and the TAO Corporation at the PYC Foods Corporation in Makati City.
TAO Corporation, a distinguished entity in the food and health sectors, has explored the potential of rice cultivation in Northern Samar, aiming to promote 100% hybrid rice production in the province. As part of their initiative, TAO Corporation has introduced the Rice-to-Rise Program, designed to empower rice farmers with new methodologies and assist in marketing their yields. The PGNS economic team enthusiastically collaborates with TAO Corporation to implement this program in Northern Samar, envisioning the establishment of a sustainable rice production enterprise.
Expressing proactive engagement, Governor Edwin C. Ongchuan invited the TAO Corporation to visit Northern Samar in support of this endeavor in capacitating local farmers in sustainable rice production and facilitate market opportunities for Nortehanon produce.
Also central to the discussion was the strategic advantages presented by the Tuna Highway of Northern Samar along the San Bernardino Strait, which promises abundant yields of tuna and various other aquatic species.
This initiative was made stronger with the presence of prominent figures from the Provincial Team such as Ms. Bles Ongchuan, an esteemed entrepreneur in Northern Samar; Dr. Jose Luis Acompañado, the head of the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO); Mr. Jhon Allen Berbon, the head of the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (PEDIPO), and EnP. Jay Keenson Acebuche, the Officer-in-Charge of the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO).
Key officials from the Board of Investment (BOI) were also present to support the investment pitch including: Mr. Lubin R. De Vera Jr., the Division Chief of the Counseling and Business Requirements Division; and Ms. Rosa Arlene R. Agonoy, Investment Specialist.
Going forward, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar anticipates TAO Corporation to send their advance team to conduct an ocular inspection to thoroughly assess the province's resources. This partnership shows a significant step towards exploring the potential of Northern Samar as an agricultural and seafood production hub that would ultimately contribute to the economic sustainability of the province.
