Provincial Government, to build more school buildings for learners in Northern Samar


Governor Edwin Ongchuan bared during the Provincial  School Board Meeting held today, August 25, 2023, that more school buildings will be constructed by the Provincial Government this calendar year 2023, with a total allocation reaching around 30.8 million pesos.  







As chair of the Provincial School Board, Governor Ongchuan heeded the call to build additional school buildings especially in areas where the number of school children have significantly increased and some learners had to share classrooms in multi-grade level.   

As of date, the Provincial Government has completed the construction of 27.4 million peso worth of school buildings funded under the Special Education Fund (SEF) 2021-2022 in the following locations:

1. Pambujan National High School Canjumadal Annex, Pambujan District, Pambujan
2. Vinisitahan Elementary School, Brgy. Vinisitahan, San Antonio
3. Quirino Elementary School, Brgy. Quirino, Las Navas
4. ALS Learning Hub “Balay ni Mano Emil” in Pambujan I Central School, Pambujan
5. Bulao National High School, Las Navas
6. Suba National High School, Laoang
7. Madrasah School Building, Catarman II Central, Catarman
8. Mapanas Central Elementary School, Mapanas

In addition, the school building project in Polangi National High School, Brgy. Polangi, Catarman also funded under the Provincial Government’s SEF for 2021-2022 along with the above schools, is already near completion.

Meanwhile, the 2-classroom school buildings programmed for 2023 will rise in the following schools:
1. Manajao Elementary School, Brgy. Manajao, Pambujan
2. Pambujan National High School, Pambujan
3. Gapas-gapas Elementary School, Brgy. Inamlan, Laoang
4. Catigbian National High School, Brgy. Catigbian, Laoang
5. San Miguel National High School, Brgy. San Miguel, Las Navas
6. Himbang Elementary School, Catarman II District, Brgy. Doña Polqueria, Catarman
7. Cabongaan Vocational School, Brgy. Cabongaan, Silvino Lubos
8. Fructuoso B. Regulacion National High School, Brgy. Tula, Pambujan
9. ALS Center “Balay ni Mano Emil” in Silvino Lubos
Plus the construction of Standard Handwashing Facility with Potable Source of Water in Allen School, Allen, Northern Samar

With the growing population of school children in Northern Samar and to help create a conducive environment for learning, Governor Ongchuan remains committed to support the education sector by providing the necessary infrastructure and human resource requirement of schools in the province.  
As a matter of policy, the Governor provides opportunity for school officials to raise their concerns through the Provincial School Board where education initiatives are discussed and deliberated. 
Today, during the PSB Meeting, the body exchanged updates on the status of SEF-funded projects and related concerns. (ACT/NLO)
