Every July, the Philippines observes National Deworming Month to promote the health and well-being of children by preventing and treating intestinal worm infections. These infections can lead to malnutrition, anemia, poor growth, fatigue, and difficulty in learning, making regular deworming an important part of keeping children healthy.
The government through the Department of Health, together
with schools and local health centers, conducts free deworming activities to
ensure that eligible children receive safe and effective treatment.
Regular deworming is essential for protecting children’s
health and supporting their overall growth and development. It helps prevent
malnutrition and anemia caused by intestinal worm infections, allowing children
to absorb nutrients more effectively and maintain good health.
Deworming also improves their ability to concentrate and
perform well in school while reducing the spread of intestinal worms within
families and communities. By participating in regular deworming programs, we
can help ensure a healthier, stronger, and more productive future for every
Filipino child.
For more information you may visit the nearest Rural Health
Unit (RHU), Municipal Health Office, or any public health center.
