Following the meeting of Governor Harris Ongchuan and Department of Agriculture 8 Regional Director Rodel Macapanas at the Capitol in March this year, the promised aid for farmers has finally arrived, demonstrating the Provincial Government’s commitment to supporting and uplifting the lives of members of our agricultural community.
Yesterday, May 6, 2026, more than 2,000 RSBSA-registered rice farmers, from Catarman, Bobon, and Mondragon received aid amounting to about 6 million pesos total cash released. This follows the first roll out of 4 million pesos cash assistance to 1,919 registered rice farmers from the municipalities of Laoang, Pambujan, and San Roque released on May 5, 2026, all under the Presidential Assistance to Farmers and Fisherfolk Program (PAFFP).
Through the active coordination of the Provincial Government through the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) with the Department of Agriculture, the release of PAFFP cash aid to registered farmers and fisherfolk in the province will continue before the quarter ends, providing the needed support to sustain production, livelihood, and food security in Northern Samar, amidst the fuel crisis brought by Middle East conflict.
