Demonstrating its steadfast commitment to improving connectivity and the movement of people, goods, and agricultural products, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar has successfully completed the initial phase of the Imelda–Makiwalo Road Project in Mondragon.
The project covers 1,165 linear meters or 1.1km concrete road, from the total 2.5-kilometer road stretch connecting Barangays Imelda and Makiwalo. This phase includes the construction of one box culvert and grouted riprap for road stability and drainage.
The entire road stretch, when completed, will not only facilitate the faster and safer transport of agricultural and fishery products but also provide residents with improved access to government services. It will likewise serve as an alternate route for vehicles traveling to Catarman, easing traffic congestion at the University of Eastern Philippines and the town proper.
A final inspection of the completed portion was conducted on October 13, 2025, by the Provincial Government Inspectorate Team to ensure that all works meet established infrastructure standards.
Under the leadership of Governor Harris Ongchuan, the Provincial Government continues to advance key infrastructure projects aimed at uplifting the lives of Nortehanons and fostering economic growth and sustainable development across the province.
