Increased access to safe and clean water in Bobon, Northern Samar

Demonstrating the support of the Provincial Government to national government initiatives, Governor Harris Ongchuan graced the turnover ceremony of the Department of the Interior and Local Government Level III Water Supply System Project in Bobon, Northern Samar, held earlier today, August 4, 2025, in said municipality.

Financed under the national government’s Support and Assistance Fund to Participatory Budgeting (SAFPB) Program, the project aims to improve the water sources and sanitation facilities across 75 local government units in the Philippines through the construction, expansion, and rehabilitation of Level III water supply systems. The municipality of Bobon is one of the beneficiary municipalities for the project, providing the community with clean, accessible, and potable water. The enhanced water system now also serves the households of Barangay J.P. Laurel, Quezon, and San Isidro, all in Bobon.

A program of the DILG, the SAFPB turnover in Bobon was led by the DILG team – from DILG Central Office, Director of the Office of Project Development Service (OPDS) Alfonso Maralli, DILG 8 Regional Director Arnel Agabe, Northern Samar Provincial Director Geraldine Maquelabit, and PDMU Chief Engr. Jesus Jeremy Bagares.

With Governor Ongchuan in witnessing the turnover was Mr. Jeevan Kandpal as guest, and the project recipient representing the Bobon community, Mayor Reny Celespara and Vice Mayor Ligaya Uy.

Thank you DILG!
