NURSING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM UPDATE || PGNS NSP Board assess scholarship applications

The Provincial Government of Northern Samar Nursing Scholarship Program (PGNS NSP) Board has already assessed the scholarship applications submitted to the program secretariat, ranking the applications based on the criteria set in the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the provincial ordinance establishing the Nursing Scholarship Program.  

From about 200 applications received by the program secretariat, the PGNS NSP Board, in its meeting held on November 28, 2024, has found 70 with complete documents, which include the applicants’ complete grades and proof of family income.  Based on the ranking, the Board will call the applicants for interview, primarily the top 40, and when it finds necessary, proceed with the 2nd batch of interview for the remaining available slots.  The PGNS NSP TWG/Secretariat are set to notify the applicants scheduled for interview on the first half of January 2025.

Immediately after the interview, the Board will deliberate and recommend to the Governor the qualified candidates for the first batch of the PGNS Nursing Scholarship Program.

On the same meeting, the Board also resolved to reconstitute the PGNS NSP Technical Working Group, following the appointment of its team leader, Dr. Catherine Miral as Assistant Regional Director of the Department of Health.  Dr. Ma. Aurora Vicencio, chair of the Board and OIC of the Provincial Health Office, endorsed to the group Dr.Ezekiel Valera, also from the Provincial Health Office, to take over the role of Dr. Miral in the PGNS NSP.

The Provincial Government, under the leadership of Governor Edwin Ongchuan, remains committed to enhancing the delivery of health services through the PGNS NSP and other significant interventions.
