Nortehanon Koop Awards 2024: Honoring Excellence in Local Cooperatives

The Provincial Government, through the Provincial Cooperative and Community Affairs Office (PCCAO), in partnership with the Provincial Cooperative Development Council (PCDC) and the Cooperative Union of Northern Samar (CUNS), recognized the exemplary achievements of local cooperatives through the Nortehanon Koop Awards.

The event, held at Ibabao Hall, Provincial Capitol, was attended by Governor Edwin Ongchuan, along with Congressman Christopher Harris Ongchuan, Vice Governor Clarence Dato, mr. Rowan Delosantos and Elihu Remigio from the Cooperative Development Authority 8; Board Member Albert Lucero, Chairperson of the Committee on Cooperatives, NGOs, and POs; and Dr. Norman Diaz from the Cooperative Union of Northern Samar.

Large Category: Allen Municipal Officials, Employees and Communities MPC

• Medium Category: Catubig Multi-Purpose Cooperative

• Micro Category: Lapinig-Gamay Transport Cooperative (LG TRANSCO)

2nd Most Outstanding Cooperative:

• Large Category: Northern Samar Multi-Purpose Cooperative

• Medium Category: Agricultural Workers and Entrepreneurs MPC

• Micro Category: Brgy. Cabacungan Primary Multi-Purpose Cooperative

3rd Most Outstanding Cooperative:

• Medium Category: Palapag Teachers, Employees & Community MPC (PATECI)

• Micro Category: AMC Credit Cooperative

The Most Outstanding Cooperative Awardee received a trophy and a check of Php 40,000. The 2nd Most Outstanding Cooperative received Php 25,000, while the 3rd Most Outstanding Cooperative received Php 15,000.

Through the search for the Outstanding Koop Nortehanon which was the highlight of the culmination of the 2024 Cooperative Month celebration on November 8, 2024, Governor Ongchuan aimed to strengthen the spirit of mutual support and cooperativism in Northern Samar, inspiring local cooperatives to contribute to community growth and empowerment.
