NEA chief assures NORSAMELCO of his assistance; thanks Governor Ongchuan for supporting the new Hydro Power Project in Northern Samar

National Electrification Administration (NEA) Administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda assured the Northern Samar Electric Cooperative (NORSAMELCO) members of NEA’s support to the Cooperative, during the Annual General Membership Assembly 2024 on Saturday, November 9, 2024 held at the Capitol Gym, Catarman.

Administrator Almeda was guest of honor in the 2024 AGMA, along with Senator Francis Tolentino, and guests Governor Edwin Ongchuan, Vice Governor Clarence Dato, Congressman Harris Ongchuan, NEA Deputy Administrator Ernesto Silvano, NEA Deputy Administrator Vic Alvarro and other energy sector stakeholders.

He also thanked Governor Edwin Ongchuan for supporting the new hydroelectric power plant project in San Isidro, Northern Samar, a joint venture of NORSAMELCO with Energy and Building Applications Technologies Corporation (EBATECH), which just held a groundbreaking ceremony earlier on that day. The project is expected to generate an additional 3.18 megawatt power that will help increase energy supply in the province.

Meanwhile, Governor Ongchuan noted the significant steps made by NORSAMELCO under General Manager Hector Tabilisma's stint, to resolve an impending power crisis in 2013, having been rated poorly and heavily indebted to power supplier PSALM. While not entirely free from challenges, he expressed gratitude to GM Tabilisma for continuing the efforts to improve the energy situation in Northern Samar.

With the Provincial Government's pro-active campaign for increased investments, Governor Ongchuan is keen on having adequate and stable power supply in Northern Samar.

Organized by the NORSAMELCO management, the AGMA was intended to serve as a forum to tackle power concerns, bringing together thousands of member-owner-consumers from all over Northern Samar.
