These evacuation centers are designed as single-detached, two-story structures, with basic amenities such as water supply, generator sets, toilets, kitchen, and ramp, to accommodate communities during emergencies. The centers vary in capacity, according to type and projected beneficiaries.
Along with evacuation centers, the Provincial Government also helps build the capacity of responders, volunteers and communities in disaster preparedness and response. Essential infrastructure projects—including sea walls, slope protection measures, and evacuation centers—have also been prioritized to safeguard communities from natural hazards.
These strategies affirm the current administration’s commitment to resilience and effective disaster management. Northern Samar being vulnerable to typhoons and other natural disasters, Gov Edwin Ongchuan have always underscored various disaster preparedness and mitigation strategies to safeguard Nortehanons from these risks.
