Provincial Government Updates Rural Health Units on Tuberculosis Support Initiatives

In an effort to enhance the Tuberculosis (TB) Program in Northern Samar, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar through the Provincial Health Office, in partnership with the Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PhilCAT), re-oriented Rural Health Units as to the referral system of TB patients and the Integrated Tuberculosis Information System (ITIS) as part of the Lung Month Celebration held earlier today, September 9, 2024, at the Ibabao Hall, Provincial Capitol, Dalakit, Catarman, Northern Samar.

The Tuberculosis Referral System plays a significant role in the TB Program as it ensures an improved surveillance system and easy facilitation of case finding of TB patients in the province, while the Integrated Tuberculosis Information System (ITIS) serves as the primary tool for TB notification and serves as a database of all the records of the patients diagnosed with TB encoded by both public and private health facilities. These systems are essential to aid TB patients in the province and in the entire country.

In attendance during the event were the key personnel of the Provincial Health Office and Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis, and representatives of Rural Health Units from the municipalities of Biri, Bobon, Catubig, Gamay, Lavezares, Lope De Vega, Pambujan, Rosario, San Antonio, and San Jose.
The Provincial Government of Northern Samar continues to make significant efforts to aid TB patients to create a safer and healthier Northern Samar.
