The Provincial Government has recorded about 15,413 to have received various services from national government agencies, provincial government offices and stakeholders during the recently-concluded Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) in Northern Samar held last Friday and Saturday, August 2-3, 2024.
From medical services to educational, social, livelihood, agriculture, justice, regulatory and other government services, thousands gathered at the Capitol Grounds for the 2-day caravan of services. The Provincial Government saw the distribution of approximately P19.5 million-worth of assistance and services, to include the 4,600 beneficiaries from the different municipalities of Northern Samar under the Ayuda para sa mga Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) of DSWD (10M), the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers of DOLE (P7.83M), Iskolar ng Probinsya educational assistance of the Provincial Government (P.912M), the Tulong Dunong Program assistance to CHED Scholars by the University of the Philippines (127,500) and release of livelihood and scholarship assistance from TESDA and OWWA.
Meanwhile, 932 have availed of free medical consultation and dental services attended to by 30 Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Department of Health (DOH) doctors apart from the nursing and other support staff, and who were also served free medicines; 4,000 healthy monay (nutribun) distributed to BPSF attendees by UEP; 1,675 assorted seedlings of fruit trees, coconut, abaca and other seedlings distributed by UEP, PhilFIDA, DENR-CENRO, Provincial Agriculture Office and PCA; 240 availed free haircut from TESDA, Parole and Probation Office and the 803rd Infantry Brigade; 106 NBI and police clearance processed, 179 Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) certificates awarded to TDC training passers and 204 driver’s licenses processed by LTO; 253 newly enrolled to Philhealth; 299 assisted in national ID registration, birth registration, and other PSA services; and 150 provided legal counselling services by the Provincial Legal Office, Public Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor.
In addition, free haircut, manicure and pedicure, massage, baked products, toolkit, cellphone repair services and cash allowances were also provided; business application and licensing, and assistance to business owners extended by DTI; benefit claims, application for PNP entrance and promotion, membership registration of coconut and other agricultural farmers and consultation services were also provided by other agencies. Locally produced agri-products and discounted basic commodities were also showcased for sale to BPSF attendees. Extra treat of ice cream, free burgers and purified water were also served, courtesy of Board Members, Jollibee and McDonald’s while the Provincial Government provided meals to both beneficiaries and service providers.
Governor Edwin Ongchuan, who spoke through Vice Governor Clarence Dato during the opening program in the morning of August 2, 2024, urged Nortehanons to avail of the services being offered during the Service Fair. With Governor Ongchuan, Vice Governor Dato led the BPSF in Northern Samar, joined by national government agency heads in the province and Board Members Albert Lucero, Dexter Galit, Gilbert Layon, Maritess Gillamac, Gina Silvano, Vicvic Singzon and Leonida Laodenio, as Governor Ongchuan represented the province in the grand opening of the BPSF Eastern Visayas held in Tacloban City, simultaneous with the BPSF in Northern Samar and other areas in Region 8 (Catbalogan, Southern Leyte, Biliran and Tacloban).
The BPSF is a program spearheaded by the Office of the President which aims to bring government services closer to Filipinos and promote wider public access to information and assistance.
In Northern Samar, the Provincial Government hosted the BPSF, participated by national government agencies and private sector groups: DOH, PHILHEALTH, PCSO, Department of Agriculture, Philippine Coconut Authority, PhilFIDA, DENR, University of Eastern Philippines, TESDA, DOST, DSWD, National Bureau of Investigation, Public Attorney’s Office, Parole And Probation Office, Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, DILG, PNP Northern Samar, 803rd Infantry Brigade, DOLE, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, DTI, Philippine Statistics Authority, Land Transportation Office, DICT, PAG-IBIG, DPWH 1st DISTRICT and 2ND ENGINEERING Districts, COMELEC, PIA, DepEd, Jollibee and McDonalds.
The BPSF is a testament that mutual cooperation and support is alive in Northern Samar.
