Governor Ongchuan congratulates Nortehanon Palarong Pambansa athletes, meets Gold Medalist kid, Winston Timothy Lluz





Governor Edwin Ongchuan warmly welcomed Winston Timothy Lluz as he returned victorious from Cebu City for the Palarong Pambansa 2024 where he garnered the most coveted Gold Medal in Lawn Tennis (Men’s Double, Elementary Category).


In the courtesy visit, the Governor congratulated Winston Timothy and his family for raising the flag of Northern Samar in the field of sports. He also commended the athlete’s father who served as his trainer and coach, molding him into the champion that he has become. 

For bringing pride and honor to Northern Samar, the athlete was given a P10,000-incentive by the Provincial Government which the Governor personally handed to Winston.

Through Winston, Governor Ongchuan also extended his congratulations to the other Nortehanon athletes who fought well in the Palarong Pambansa 2024.

Overall, 12,000 athletes from 17 regions and 2 guest delegations participated in the 2024 Palarong Pambansa where Region 8 finished at top 7.  Among these thousands of athletes, 20 Nortehanons secured places in the national sports event including Gold Medalist Winston Timothy Lluz from PM Geta Elementary School in Laoang.  Besides Winston, Briana Corong from Dale Elementary School in San Roque finished second in the Triple Jump (Girls, Elementary Category), securing the silver medal and Leonie Mejica, Jr. of San Agustin Elementary School in Lavezares obtained the 4th place in Shotput. 

For team games, Northern Samar placed 4th in Baseball (Secondary Category) with the powerful team from Pambujan National High School which included John Albert Alega, Peter Amado, Roseleo Baluyot, Jerome Cisneros, Maxi Cedrick Dela Cruz, Jarnel Edwin Enero, Ben Joebert Gorpido, Moisess II Lagrimas, Jacky Lobos, John Paul Montejo, Reynold Morales, and Darius David Paderan; 5th in Sepak Takraw, played by student-athletes of Sumoroy Agro-Industrial School including Marialyn Asid, Brianna Faye Gorgoña, Mannylyn Leanda, Mia Nicole Orio, and Krizelle Ann Tamayo; and also 5th in Volleyball (Elementary Category) competed by Vianne Clarence Caro, Larry De Asis, Joshua Formaran, Kenjie Delos Reyes, Jarain Goteza, Samuel Jopio, Ethan Jinn Lao, Ram Quezander Lopreto, Zian John Manlangit, Dainmer Pollente, and Juvan Sauro of Jubasan Elementary School in Allen.
