6th Kabataan Caravan: Empowering the youth of Brgy. Washington

To encourage greater participation of the youth in various advocacy activities, the Provincial Government through the Provincial Youth Development Office and the Office of the Sangguniang Kabataan Provincial Federation, together with the Local Youth Development Office of Catarman and Pambayang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan (PPSK-Cataman), conducted the 6th Kabataan Caravan in Barangay Washington, Catarman, Norther Samar on July 26, 2024.

Similar to Governor Edwin Ongchuan’s Kauswagan Caravan, the Kabataan Caravan is a commendable effort to empower and support young people in the province.  More than just a government outreach initiative, it embodies a shared vision for a resilient, progressive, and happy youth in the province.

About 200 youth participated in the various activities that included an orientation on Comprehensive Cybersecurity by DICT-Catarman, Career Guidance and Pre-employment Coaching of MPESO, Basic Life Support Training of MDRRMO-Catarman, Orientation on Health by MHO, ice cream and other food treat. 

Provincial Youth Development Officer Ms. Anne Kirsten P. Tobes, speaking through her team, highlighted the opportunity provided by the Kabataan Caravan, “Kay natuod kit nga bilang batan-on, kun tatagan kit sa mga kaangayan nga oportunidad, damo an aton pwede mahimo para maging maupay nga tawo nga nakakabulig sa aton society magdevelop o umuswag. Kaya ta bumulig sa aton sarili nga pamaagi gamit aton sarili nga kakayanan. Salit kunta, maaghat kamo nga magkamay-ada panginlabot sa mga problema nga nakakaapekto sa aton kapaligiran ngan buligan ta gihapon aton mga kalugaringon nga maghingaupay an aton kabubuwason,” she said. 

Among the participants during Kabataan Caravan were: Provincial Youth Development Office Staff, SK Officials of Brgy. Washington led Hon. Aira Jane G. Bernabe alongside the Barangay Officials of Washington Hon. Gilbert Emano, Hon. Mae Cabigting, Hon. Zalde Acebuche, and Municipal Councilors Hon. Neil Hernandez and Hon. Ernesto Patilan Jr. of the Municipality of Catarman.
