Laoang, a bustling center for trade frequently visited by cargo vessels in early 1980s, is also blessed with white sand beaches and abundant aquatic resources that makes it a visited tourist site in the province.
The Provincial Government, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, announced during a meeting with stakeholders at the University of Eastern Philippines earlier today that the next Kauswagan Caravan is set to provide essential services to 1,399 families in five barangays in Laoang: Brgy. Onay, Inamlan, Langob, Mualbual, and Cahayagan.
This initiative is crucial in bridging the gap in the delivery of social services to remote communities, with participating agencies and private sector groups pledging to offer a variety of services. These include medical services, legal consultations, registrations for birth, marriage, and national IDs, as well as other basic services. Moreover, beneficiary communities will have access to veterinary and agriculture services, and opportunities for fire safety and first aid training, among others.
The beneficiary barangays expressed gratitude to the provincial government for bringing this program to its constituents. "nagpapasalamat kami sini nga programa kay proactive approach in siya, dre na kami nga mga barangay officials magkinadto sa iba-iba nga ahensya para amg-aro bulig kundi ine na sira an makadto saam barangay para maghatag serbisyo. Kaya I salute Gov. Edwin sini nga programa,” said Barangay Captain Floro Espiña, Jr. of Barangay Inamlan.
A priority program of Governor Edwin Ongchuan, the Kauswagan Caravan is aimed at empowering communities and fostering collaboration for the good of the Nortehanons.
The 27th Kauswagan Caravan will take place on July 19, 2024 in Barangay Mualbual.
