Sangguniang Panlalawigan concurs PEDIPO head’s appointment

Jhon Allen B. Berbon, previously the Provincial Government Department Head (PGDH) of the Provincial Information Office, was confirmed and concurred today, January 31, 2024 by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan as the Provincial Government Department Head (PGDH) of the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (PEDIPO). Governor Edwin Ongchuan appointed Berbon as PEDIPO head on January 17, 2024. 


Established in 2021, PEDIPO has been mandated with the responsibility of promoting economic growth, attracting investments, and fostering a conducive business environment in the province.

He has successfully led the Provincial Information Office for a period of five (5) years, spanning from January 17, 2019 to January 17, 2024. In addition, he also served as the Provincial Youth Development Officer concurrently from 2019-2023. His exceptional performance in the field was recognized on multiple occasions. The Eastern Visayas Media honored him twice, in 2021 and 2023, with the Outstanding Public Information Officer award in Eastern Visayas. Furthermore, the United Nations Association of the Philippines (UNAP) acknowledged his excellence by conferring upon him the Outstanding in Youth Innovation Award in 2023.

PEDIPO Berbon is an on-stream candidate for the Career Executive Service Eligibility (CESE), the eligibility requirement for CESO or 3rd level positions. He passed the Career Executive Service Written Examination (CES-WE) in 2022 and the Career Executive Service Assessment Center (CES-AC) in 2023.

Berbon is pursuing his Doctorate in Public Administration from the University of Perpetual Help System-DALTA, and he finished his Master's Degree in Public Administration from the same institution. He also obtained a Juris Doctor (Law) Degree from Christ the King College, while his Bachelor of Science in Psychology was completed at the same college. Furthermore, he studied for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy at St. Vincent de Paul College Seminary.

With his new role, Berbon is expected to fulfill the vision of the Provincial Government of Northern Samar by ensuring favorable conditions for businesses to thrive while simultaneously ensuring that residents enjoy a high quality of life and the preservation of the province's rich cultural heritage and natural resources.
