Bobon’s Livelihood Training Center is set to benefit the province by significantly reducing training cost and improve agricultural practices and food security.
The project, funded by the Indian Government through the
facilitation of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), is
part of the Indian Grant Assistance for the Implementation of Quick Impact
Projects (QIP) in the Philippines which include small projects for
socio-economic development in selected areas in the Philippines, such as the
establishment or improvement of social infrastructures on education, health,
sanitation, community development, as well as physical infrastructure for road
improvement and local community centers, among others.
The first Indian grant for Northern Samar, the
Ribbon-Cutting and Turnover Ceremony of the Livelihood Training Center marks
the formal opening of the facility, envisioned as a venue for skills
development and livelihood training programs that will help enhance employment
opportunities for Bobonanons and strengthen local economic initiatives.
The inauguration, held on May 5, 2026, was graced by Indian
Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Harsh Kumar Jain, joined by DILG
Assistant Secretary Francisco Cruz, DILG 8 Assistant Regional Director Darwin
Bibar, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar represented by Board Member
Lope Dorado on behalf of Governor Harris Ongchuan, Board Member Emil Ongchuan,
DILG Northern Samar Provincial Director Geraldine Maquelabit, Bobon Mayor Reny
Celespara, other LGU officials and guests.
The project aligns with Governor Ongchuan's HCO development
agenda which includes capacity-building, opportunities for livelihood and
economic development, as well as health and nutrition for all of the Nortehanon
community.
