Philippines, Netherlands and Morocco booths top Karibhungan sa Pasko Christmas Display contest

As Christmas Day draws near, the Provincial Government announced the winners of its Karibhungan sa Pasko 2024 Christmas Display competition at the Capitol, with the theme “Experience World’s Christmas Novelty.”

The Christmas display at the Capitol Grounds which has brought joy to many locals and visitors, has become an annual tradition of the Provincial Government to inspire hope and positivity, and keep the spirit of Christmas alive especially among Nortehanons. This year’s Christmas display will continue until January 6, 2024.

On December 19, 2024, Governor Edwin Ongchuan, with Vice Governor Clarence Dato and Board Members, announced the winning agencies or groups, awarding the top 3 entries with P300,000 for the first prize winner, P200,000 for the second placer, and P100,00 for the third placer.

Out of 13 participating organizations, the Philippines-themed booth of the Northern Samar Electric Cooperative (NORSAMELCO) was adjudged as grand winner, with “Netherlands” of the Department of Health Northern Samar as Second Placer, followed by “Morocco” of the Department of Public Works and Highways Second District Engineering Office as Third Placer.

The other participating entries were also acknowledged for their significant support to the Provincial Government’s aim of bringing a delightful Christmas to the public through the dazzling Karibhungan sa Pasko 2024 experience:
