Northern Samar, once again recognized by DOH for exemplary health initiatives during EV Health Summit and Awards 2024





The Provincial Government once again demonstrated its commitment to enhanced health service delivery, recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) as SILVER AWARDEE for its continuous efforts in maintaining high standards of care.

Today, December 10, 2024, the Provincial Government, through its health arm, the Provincial Health Office, received Silver Award in recognition of its achievements in various categories, notably:

1. Local Health System Maturity Level (Level 2 - Organizational Level) for having achieved 100% preparatory level, and 70% organizational level in all LHSML Characteristics 

2. FHSIS Award for its outstanding implementation of the Field Health Services Information System (FHSIS) in Eastern Visayas

3. Health Promotion Healthy Learning Institutions Award for successfully implementing the Healthy Learning Institutions program for F.Y. 2023-2024

4. Sustaining the Malaria and Filariasis-free status province

5. Satisfactorily complying the Disaster Risk Reduction Management in Health (DRRMH) System Institutionalization requirements in the province

One of its health facilities, the Northern Samar Provincial Hospital (NSPH), was also conferred the Excellence in HIV Care and Treatment Award for its remarkable implementation of the HIV Program, demonstrating unwavering dedication to diagnosis, treatment, and HIV viral load initiation, vital to the fight against HIV and AIDS.

In Addition, NSPH was honored as Mother-Baby Friendly Health Facility and Accredited Health Facility for Child Health, for its exceptional commitment to maternal and child health, and for outstanding efforts in fully complying with the Mother-Baby Friendly Health Facility Initiative (MBFHFI) requirements and standards. 

The Achievement in Digital HealthCare Innovation (HOMIS Billing System) or the iHOMIS+ eClaims Achievement was also awarded to NSPH for its excellence in the electronic claims (eClaims) process through the Integrated Hospital Operations Management Information System Plus (iHOMIS+). 

Along with NSPH, another Provincial Government-run facility, Allen District Hospital (ADH) was also conferred the Digital HealthCare Innovation (HOMIS Billing System) or HBSys eClaims Achievement Award, which recognition is presented to facilities that demonstrate exceptional skill, accuracy, and efficiency in managing eClaims submissions and approvals, contributing to smoother operations and optimized financial outcomes. Recipients of this award have successfully leveraged HBSys capabilities to streamline eClaims workflows, reduce submission errors, and maximize claim success rates.

Dr. Maria Aurora Vicencio, OIC Provincial Health Officer, and NSPH Chief Dr. Joseph Estanislao received the awards along with Dr. Cary Tomada, ADH Chief of Hospital and Mr. Jefferson Jamoralin, Administrative Officer also of Allen District Hospital during the Eastern Visayas Health Summit and Awards 2024 held at Summit Hotel in Tacloban City.

These achievements mark the Provincial Government, under Governor Edwin Ongchuan’s steadfast leadership, to effectively implement health initiatives that positively impact on the lives of the Nortehanons.
Other LGU awardees from Northern Samar are San Antonio, Mondragon, Catubig, Bobon, Capul, Lapinig, Palapag, Biri, San Jose, Catarman, and Laoang.
