Taking a significant step towards building a disaster-resilient province, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar has successfully finished the construction of a seawall in Barangay Cahayagan, Laoang, Northern Samar.
Situated along the Pacific Ocean, Barangay Cahayagan faces frequent typhoon visits especilly during the rainy season. The newly constructed seawall will serve as a vital defense against high tides, waves and storm surges, effectively prevent inland flooding and safeguard the people and community located near the shoreline.
This essential project, with a total cost of 15 million pesos, was funded by the Provincial Government through its Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund. It includes the construction of a 213-meter seawall, providing long-term protection to the community during calamities.
With a steadfast commitment to mitigate the impact of disasters, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar, under the visionary leadership of Governor Edwin Ongchuan, continues its efforts to enhance infrastructure development towards achieving a disaster-resilient province.
