Powering a sustainable future in Northern Samar!

Envision Energy, in collaboration with The Provincial Government of Northern Samar through the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (PEDIPO), is set to embark on another green energy initiative. In a meeting held at 9:00 AM today, representatives from Envision Energy, a global leader in green technology, discussed their project to install wind turbines in the municipalities of Allen.

Envision Energy, known worldwide for its cutting-edge renewable energy solutions, has already conducted feasibility studies in the province. The company, which prides itself on “solving the challenges for a sustainable future,” is at the forefront of reducing the costs associated with renewable energy production, storage, and synergy through technological innovation. Their comprehensive approach to energy transformation includes Smart Wind Turbines, Energy Storage, and Green Hydrogen Solutions.

The project, which involves the installation of approximately 30 wind turbines capable of generating around 200 megawatts, is set to utilize between 100 to 500 hectares of land. Should this initiative come to fruition, it will mark a historic milestone as the first wind turbine project by Envision Energy in the Philippines. Engr. Bonny Carlo Tasic also gave some insights on the technical requirements and feasibility issues that may be faced in the process of building the turbines. However, he expressed his positive vision that the project would be a success should necessary preparations are met.

Governor Edwin C. Ongchuan also took a keen interest in the project, seeking clarification on crucial details such as the proposed location, expected output, and potential challenges. He added that some studies have already shown that wind speeds in key areas in Northern Samar have greater potential compared to other existing wind turbine projects in other provinces. He reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the project, noting that the One-Stop-Action Center established by PEDIPO would play a pivotal role in streamlining the process for investors.

During the meeting, Envision Energy’s representatives expressed their admiration for the provincial government’s proactive stance in attracting investors, particularly through the incentives offered by the province. Mr. Jhon Allen Berbon, PEDIPO Department Head, further fueled this enthusiasm by inquiring about other potential investment opportunities that could be explored in Northern Samar. Envision Energy responded by highlighting the possibility of establishing sustainable car battery factories in the province, a venture that aligns with their focus on green technology. They also mentioned that they would engage in discussions with their sister companies about additional investment prospects.

Mr. Berbon emphasized the provincial government’s dedication to attracting more investors, recognizing the potential for job creation and economic stimulation that such investments would bring. He assured Envision Energy of PEDIPO’s unwavering support in providing necessary data and assistance to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.

To date, Envision's Onshore Wind Farm adds to the five ongoing and proposed Green Energy ventures in Northern Samar. These include Lihangin's Onshore Wind Farm in San Isidro, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners' Offshore Wind Farm stretching from Bobon to Laoang, EBTech's Hydroelectric Power Plant in San Isidro, Ranyag Energy's Solar Farm in Bobon, and Energies PH's Ocean (Tidal) power project.

Lihangin's San Isidro Farm is scheduled to begin operations in the second quarter of 2025, while Copenhagen's Offshore Wind Farm is currently preparing their LiDAR equipments. The remaining projects are in the pre-development stage, progressing towards implementation.

The collaboration between the Provincial Government of Northern Samar and Envision Energy underscores a shared vision of a sustainable future. With the potential to not only boost the local economy but also position Northern Samar as a leader in green energy in the Philippines, this project is a beacon of progress and innovation.
