Relief International, PGNS discuss RI's project in Northern Samar



Representatives of Relief International (RI) met with Vice Governor Clarence Dato yesterday afternoon, July 25, 2022, at his office to discuss the international NGO’s project in Region VIII, particularly in Northern Samar. 

During the courtesy meeting, the RI representatives, led by Area Coordinator Maylyn Pagatpatan, informed the Provincial Government of Northern Samar (PGNS)  through Vice Governor Dato, that the UNICEF-funded project aims to support local government units, the Department of Health, and the Department of Education in improving access to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities and services in 25 government-run COVID-19 treatment and isolation facilities, increasing the access to WASH supplies and services as part of the local implementation of COVID-19 response in selected communities, improving the availability of WASH services and facilities for the gradual reopening of learning institutions, and improving the capacity of hospitals for providing COVID-19 care and essential health services during the extended pandemic.


On behalf of PGNS, Vice Governor Dato thanked Relief International for including Northern Samar as its target area for the project, which is expected to be completed in February 2023. 

After the meeting, Vice Governor Dato, presented to the group a copy of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 169, Series of 2022, passed by the lawmaking body in June 2022, expressing “profound gratitude and sincere appreciation to Relief International” for its COVID-19 Vaccine Delivery Support project in Northern Samar from December 2021 to April 2022.
