Kauswagan Caravan goes to Las Navas



A total of 916 families from six barangays in Las Navas, Northern Samar received various goods and services from the Provincial Government of Northern Samar (PGNS), participating national agencies, and municipal LGU during the conduct of the 4th Kauswagan Caravan today, March 23, 2021 at Brgy. Quezon, Las Navas.

The beneficiaries from Barangays H. Jolejole, San Antonio, Catoto-ogan, Magsaysay, Bulao and Quezon received from the PGNS, thru the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, food packs containing rice, canned good, biscuits, and noodles. Meanwhile, the MSWDO conducted ID processing for senior citizens, PWDs and solo parents. Their counterpart national agency, the DSWD, informed the public of their Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.

Free medical and dental services, along with medicines and vitamins, were provided by the Department of Health, and the Provincial and Municipal Health Offices. Together with the 20th Infantry Battalion, free circumcision were also given to Las Navasnon.

Also with the Philippine Army, TESDA gave free haircut, as manicure and pedicure were provided by their skills training graduates.

The Provincial Agriculture Office, together with DA and MAO, distributed seedlings to farmers while PhilFIDA gave abaca plantlets for the revitalization of the abaca industry in Las Navas.

The Provincial Veterinary Office offered deworming services for carabaos, swine, and poultry; and rabies vaccination for cats and dogs. They also turned over native chickens, as BFAR gave fish fingerlings to fishpond owners. 

The Provincial Legal Office provided free legal and notarial services as DAR also provided legal counselling and distribution of Certificate of Land Ownership Awards. The DENR answered land titling concerns while also promoting waste segregation in the barangays.

The Provincial Population Office provided family planning counselling; the Provincial Tourism Office helped the locals identify possible tourism-related activities; and the PDRRMO briefed the public on disaster preparedness.

The PEO and the DPWH-NSSDEO answered inquiries from barangay officials regarding possible infrastructure projects within their areas.

DOLE and NSPESO answered employment concerns while DTI and PLDO provided assistance to would-be entrepreneurs and small businesses. DOLE and DTI also briefed their clients on their respective funding assistance.

The Philippine Statistics Authority, together with the Local Civil Registrar, assisted the public regarding their civil registry concerns (live birth, marriage certificate) and gave an orientation on the national ID system.

The NSPPO, 803rd Infantry Brigade and the 20th IB also distributed IEC materials on their respective programs, particularly the anti-illegal drugs and NTF-ELCAC activities.

The Governor, together with his wife Ms. Blessie Ongchuan, led the distribution of wheelchairs for PWDs; shirts for BHWs; and toys and candies for children.

Mayor Arlito Tan thanked the PGNS for conducting this activity in Las Navas. Kauswagan Caravan, a flagship program of Governor Edwin Ongchuan, aims to bring government closer to the people. 
“Gindadara namu didi an serbisyo sa barangay para diri na kam magkinurukadto sa Catarman para mag-aro bulig sa gobyerno probinsyal ngan sa mga ahensya san gobyerno nasyunal,” Governor Ongchuan said in his message.
As the provincial government deep-dives into these communities, it also hopes to identify long-term interventions that will usher communities towards socio-economic development. maa/nspio
