To provide Nortehanons temporary shelter during emergencies, the Provincial Government of Northern Samar has successfully completed a new two-story evacuation center in Barangay Poblacion, Lope de Vega.
Barangay Poblacion is highly susceptible to flooding
especially during intense rains. To address the needs of the people, a new
evacuation center was built.
This type B evacuation center, which can accommodate up to
40 families or a maximum of 200 persons at the same time, is designed with
adequate lighting, proper ventilation, separate restrooms for men and women,
and other essential amenities to offer a secure and comfortable space in times
of calamities.
Additionally, the center is equipped with one generator set
to provide reliable power supply, along with one water tank and a ramp to
accommodate persons with disabilities, ensuring smooth access to the shelter.
The Provincial Government Inspectorate Team conducted the
final inspection on March 18, 2025 to ensure that the project meets
infrastructure standards.
This newly completed project reaffirms the Provincial
Government's commitment to enhancing disaster preparedness and providing
quality and safe temporary shelter during emergencies.
