The Provincial Government has recently completed the improvement of the San Isidro Port located at poblacion, San Isidro, Northern Samar.
Funded by the national government under the Department of Transportation's (DOTr) Maritime Infrastructure Program, the project includes expansion of the port, construction of a 200mm thick pavement with 150mm thick subbase course and hand-laid rock embankment essential to enhance durability and allow easier transport of people and goods from San Isidro to nearby island towns, such as the most tourist-visited municipality of San Antonio.
The project also includes the construction of a 56.2 linear meter slope protection essential to avoid soil erosion and ensure the safety of travelers and the community.
With the expanded port, the Provincial Government foresees increased mobility of people and products, greater access to government services and increased opportunity for livelihood, employment and other economic activities which will ultimately contribute to the development of the province.
The Provincial Government Inspectorate Team recently conducted inspection of the project to ensure that the project is compliant with the set infrastructure standards.
